Sombra Demons #1, Mated to the Monster, 2022.

I really should’ve known better than to play around with that old book of spells… How was I supposed to know that the incantations scrawled inside of it worked? That the first one I read would open a portal into a demon plane — or that the next one was an unbreakable vow to the seven-foot tall shadow monster I unwittingly summoned into my bedroom? He says his name is Malphas, that he’s something called a Sombra demon, and I’m his mate. Monster, demon… whatever he is, his muscles are bigger than my head, and that club between his legs… I don’t know if mate means the same thing to him as it does me, but he’s gotta be kidding. Spoiler alert: he’s not. Mal has been waiting for more than a thousand years for the one woman meant for him. He’s convinced that’s me, and he’s willing to do anything to prove it. And though I'm not sure if I'm interested in forever with an immortal demon, it's easy to fall for him when he turns out to be a sweet cinnamon roll of a demon who draws portraits of me while I'm sleeping and rescues innocent kittens when —as my shadow —he's forced to follow me outside. But forever is all a Sombra Demon can offer... and when I discover there's a deadline to choosing him, I have to decide if being mated to the monster is what I want...

If you want to laugh, then this is the right book for you. If you are in a reading slump, then also, this is the book for you. I’m talking about “Mated to the Monster”, the first book in a series of demons and humans, and gigantic cocks… LOL.

I actually enjoyed this book even if it’s not a great book. It is a fantasy romance, but there is not an intricate world building; there is not deep trauma; there is no meaningful details in any ounce of this teeny tiny little book. But still, it’s fucking funny and I liked that.

We have Shannon, our FMC. She’s actually really human: she says the kind of lines I actually use in my everyday life. She has a crush on the coffee guy. She owns a book, in an unknown language, which say it can make anyone find the true love. Obviously, she reads out loud the spell. Obviously, things went absolutely nuts the second after she pronounce the words: a huge naked red demon appears in front of her speaking that weird language, too.

Mal is descripted like a huge monster, with his dark red skin, his horns and his massive cock which he keeps showing and swinging in front of the human he knows will be his mate. (I actually fell off the bed laughing because of this scene). He’s completely red, but a walking green flag. Mal try his best to understand his little human, to be enough for a creature who doesn’t fully understand what means being a Sombra’s mate. You can go read how it goes. It worth the time, I swear.

Would I recommend it? Not really. Maybe. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely. I am not sure I will continue all the series, I was actually looking for some serious reading this year, but I want to save it anyway. You can never know.
