Un romanzo seducente e proibito, impossibile da dimenticare.

«I fratelli Mackenzie se ne vanno in giro come se tutto fosse di loro proprietà, come se potessero conquistarsi ogni cosa solo con la forza bruta, l’arroganza e la seduzione.»

È un libro che ha spopolato nel booktok e che ancora adesso si fa sentire.

Sono combattuta, onestamente. La storia c’è, i personaggi anche, ma è quel tipo di libro dove si dice “ha del potenziale”, perché ripeto, uno studio di fondo c’è, personaggi ok, ma tutta la storia doveva (a mio modesto parere) essere meglio sviluppata. Ma doveva anche essere meglio raccontata. Succede tutto un po’ troppo velocemente, alcune scene sono abbastanza surreali, pochi dettagli, solo per arrivare all’obbiettivo. La trama, però, non è molto chiara, è abbastanza sconnessa.

Abbiamo Arya, da piccola molto amica dei fratelli Mackenzie, poi si sono allontanati per motivi che vengono spiegati si, ma non al massimo.

Il cliché si chiama “ti amo ma ti tengo lontana per proteggerti” cosa che ovviamente non funzionerà.

È un classico libro per teenager, a chi piace il genere.

Il personaggio che non mi è piaciuto per niente è Killian. Troppo assurdo, troppo aggressivo, è completamente fuori di testa, sarebbe da internare. Per lui ogni cosa significa “ucc*dere, colpire, torturare”. Ucc*de con la stessa facilità e frequenza con cui ci cambiamo le mutande.

Ogni fratello ha una storia, sono tutte intrecciate, per questo ci sono i capitoli raccontati da molti punti di vista. L’autrice immagino volesse dare spazio a tutti i personaggi, permettendo a tutti loro di raccontare la loro storia dal proprio punto di vista.

È il primo libro che ho letto con più POV e non mi ha fatto impazzire questo dettaglio.

Di base qualcosa che intriga c’è, ti spinge comunque a sapere come finisce, cosa succederà dopo, che fine fa quel personaggio, come si comporterà, ma tutto viene un po’ troppo prolungato, a volte la storia è ripetitiva e lenta.

In linea generale è “simpatica”.

Spero che il secondo libro ci spieghi meglio la trama e ci sia uno sviluppo dei personaggi.

It's a book that has become a hit in booktok and that is still making itself felt. I'm torn, honestly. The story is there, the characters too, but it's that kind of book where they say "it has potential", because I repeat, there is a background study, characters ok, but the whole story should have (in my humble opinion) been better developed. But it should also have been better told. It all happens a bit too quickly, some scenes are quite surreal, few details, just to get to the goal. The plot, however, is not very clear, it is quite disconnected. We have Arya, as a child very good friends with the Mackenzie brothers, then they drifted apart for reasons that are explained, yes, but not at all. The cliché is called "I love you but I keep you away to protect you" which obviously won't work. It's a classic book for teenagers, for those who like the genre. The character I didn't like at all is Killian. Too absurd, too aggressive, he is completely out of his mind, he should be interned. For him everything means “killing, hitting, torturing”. He kills with the same ease and frequency with which we change our underwear. Each brother has a story, they are all intertwined, that's why there are chapters told from many points of view. I imagine the author wanted to give space to all the characters, allowing them all to tell their story from their own point of view.
