Ora che la verità sul suo piano è venuta a galla, mandando in frantumi la fragile fiducia che si era instaurata tra lei e Nyktos, a Seraphena non resta che aggrapparsi al proprio senso del dovere. Per questo farà tutto il possibile per fermare Kolis, il falso Re degli Dei, e porre fine alla sua tirannia su Iliseum e alla minaccia che rappresenta per i mortali. Anche se questo significa seguire il piano di Nyktos.

L’ultima cosa di cui entrambi hanno bisogno mentre lavorano insieme è l’innegabile, bruciante passione che continua ad accendersi tra loro. In più, Sera non può permettersi di innamorarsi del tormentato Primordiale, men che meno adesso che la sua vita non è più legata a un destino che non ha mai voluto. Ma come resistere ai ricordi del piacere che hanno condiviso e che ancora li consuma? E al desiderio irrazionale di diventare per Nyktos una Consorte di fatto e non solo di nome?

Poi, mentre il pericolo che li circonda cresce e gli attacchi alle Terre d’Ombra si intensificano, a un tratto si presenta un rischio del tutto nuovo: il potere primordiale della Vita sta crescendo dentro di lei e preme per manifestarsi. E Seraphena sa che senza l’amore di Nyktos – un’emozione che lui non è in grado di provare – non sopravvivrà all’Ascensione. Sempre che riesca ad arrivarci, naturalmente, perché il tempo sta per scadere… per lei e per i regni.

Che dire… ci sono pareri discordanti su questo secondo volume della serie flesh and fire. Personalmente, l’ho amato.

Mi azzardo a dire che amo questa serie spin-off più della seria principale.

Scopriamo un bel po’ di cose in questo libro, finalmente i pezzi si incastrano e molti dei nostri dubbi vengono risolti.

L’amore tra Sera e Nyktos non fa altro che crescere, ma Sera sa che il suo destino è la morte. La accetta. Cosa che non fa Nyktos, lui vuole che lei viva, è sempre lì, presente, a ricordarle di viverle, che merita di vivere, che tutto ciò che sta succedendo non è colpa sua.

Sono entrambi personaggi molto forti, litigheranno spesso perché in disaccordo, ma leggeremo dell’evolversi dei loro sentimenti.

La storia si arricchisce di nuove rivelazioni sui personaggi e sul mondo in sè.

Ci sono molte più interazioni coi Draken. Scopriamo molto di loro e vi innamorerete se non lo avete già fatto leggendo i libri precedenti.

Il tema centrale è la scoperta di sé stessi, del potere che si possiede e della responsabilità che ne deriva.

Seraphena scopre cosa può fare con le braci che sono dentro di lei, le utilizza, non si ferma, sa che potrebbe morire in qualsiasi momento, ma il suo cuore è buono, puro, non le importa rischiare la morte se può salvare delle vite.

Mentre Nyktos sa le responsabilità che ha, sa cosa dovrebbe fare, è il Primordiale della Morte, non un destino facile il suo, ma cerca in tutti di salvare le persone che ama, anche se dice che non è più in grado di amare.

La zia J sa benissimo come tenerci incollati alle pagine, sa sempre dare il giusto equilibrio tra i misteri, i sentimenti e le azioni. Alcuni punti sono più lenti, ma è anche vero che non possiamo leggere continuamente di battaglie in corso e amori nell’aria.

In ogni caso le battaglie non mancheranno, ve lo assicuro. Gli scontri sanguinosi sono sempre presenti e amerete le nuove alleanze.

Ovviamente non mancheranno nemmeno le parti divertenti. Nyktos è davvero ammaliante, spiritoso, intrigante e i battibecchi con Nektas, il draken, vi intratterranno.

What can I say... there are conflicting opinions on this second volume of the Flesh and Fire series. Personally, I loved it. I dare say that I love this spin-off series more than the main series. We discover quite a few things in this book, the pieces finally fit together and many of our doubts are resolved. The love between Sera and Nyktos only grows, but Sera knows that her destiny is death. He accepts it. Which Nyktos doesn't do, he wants her to live, he is always there, present, reminding her to live, that she deserves to live, that everything that is happening is not her fault. They are both very strong characters, they will often argue because they disagree, but we will read about the evolution of their feelings. The story is enriched with new revelations about the characters and the world itself. There are a lot more interactions with Draken. We find out a lot about them and you will fall in love if you haven't already by reading the previous books. The central theme is the discovery of oneself, of the power one possesses and the responsibility that comes from it. Seraphena discovers what she can do with the embers that are inside her, she uses them, she doesn't stop, she knows that she could die at any moment, but her heart is good, pure, she doesn't mind risking death if she can save lives. While Nyktos knows the responsibilities he has, he knows what he should do, he is the Primordial of Death, his destiny is not easy, but he tries in all to save the people he loves, even if he says he is no longer capable of loving.

Aunt J knows very well how to keep us glued to the pages, she always knows how to give the right balance between mysteries, feelings and actions. Some points are slower, but it is also true that we cannot continuously read about battles in progress and loves in the air. In any case, there will be no shortage of battles, I assure you. Bloody clashes are always present and you will love the new alliances. Of course, there will be no shortage of fun parts either. Nyktos is truly charming, witty, intriguing and the bickering with Nektas, the draken, will entertain you.
