I caught the attention of a monster. I didn’t ask for it. Didn’t even see it coming. But the moment I do, it’s too late. Killian Carson is a predator wrapped in sophisticated charm. He’s cold-blooded, manipulative, and savage. The worst part is that no one sees his devil side. I do. And that will cost me everything. I run, but the thing about monsters? They always chase.

Jeez, this book was soooo good. Rina Kent is my new obsession, and Killian lives rent free right now in my head. This man is incredible. Completely out of his mind, a psychopath, with murderous tendencies, obsessed with a girl who’s kind of a saint. But he has flaws, too.

So, let’s talk about it, shall we? We have Glyndon King, a girl with a serious inferiority complex. So serious that she was about to kill herself. Her family is an important one, her mother, her brothers and herself are artists, but her kind of art is slightly different and definitely not understood. This kind of issue, this sort of depression, is very peculiar and delicate. Obviously, her family did not intend to make her feel this way, but this is it. The day she decided to end her life in that cliff, she saw him. A monster. A man with no life in his eyes. Black hair, black soul. I was shocked about that scene, I couldn’t imagine the spice would started immediately.

“And what do you want?”

“Your lips around my cock.”

Killian Carson, ladies and gentlemen, second chapter. Mind all the trigger warnings, not all the spicy moments are completely consensual, this is not a book for everybody.

Killian doesn’t feel emotions like every other human beings, but he can make everyone else feel, for sure. He is a predator, he craves to see the inside of people (no figurative way, here), he has demons inside that want things that society don’t accept. And, of course, he would burn the world for her. Guys, this kind of obsession is addicting in books, I love reading of men who technically are not capable of love, but when they find the right one, then they would do everything for her, murder included. In books only, though.

“[…] I spent my whole life repressing my true nature, but I’d willingly embrace my demons for you. I’d turn into the devil, a monster, and whatever weapon I have to be if it means I can protect you. You will never, ever question me about it, do you hear me?”

The way Glyn faced her issues and insecurities, the path she chose to help herself healing and all the support provided by Killian in that sense made me sob more than I want to admit. Both Killian’s parents POV were beautiful to read, and so touching too. This was my first Rina Kent’s book, and I will certainly read the whole series. It deserves my full attention.

“I’ll make sure you always choose me as much as I choose you.”

“And when I fell for him, I had to take the whole package.

The good, the ugly, and the fucked-up.”

Oh, I laughed a lot during all the interactions between Kill and Niko. Loved Killian’s infallible aim (iykyk). No need to say Niko is my favourite among everyone already.

Ho attirato l'attenzione di un mostro. Non l'ho chiesto. Non l'ho nemmeno visto arrivare. Ma nel momento in cui lo faccio, è troppo tardi. Killian Carson è un predatore avvolto in un fascino sofisticato. È a sangue freddo, manipolatore e selvaggio. La parte peggiore è che nessuno vede il suo lato diabolico. Io lo vedo. E questo mi costerà tutto. Corro, ma la caratteristica dei mostri? Loro inseguono sempre.

Porca miseria, questo libro è stato stupendo. Rina Kent è la mia nuova ossessione, e Killian vive “rent free” nella mia testa in questo momento. Quest'uomo è incredibile. Completamente fuori di testa, uno psicopatico, con tendenze omicide, ossessionato da una ragazza che è una specie di santa. Ma ha anche dei difetti.

Quindi, parliamone, vi va? Abbiamo Glyndon King, una ragazza con un grave complesso di inferiorità, così serio che stava per togliersi la vita. La sua famiglia è una di quelle importanti, sua madre, i suoi fratelli e lei stessa sono artisti, ma l’arte di Glyn è leggermente diversa, e purtroppo, non compresa. Questo tipo di problema, questo tipo di depressione, è molto particolare e delicato. Ovviamente, la sua famiglia non intendeva farla sentire in questo modo, ma così stanno le cose. Il giorno in cui Glyn decide di porre fine alla sua vita in quella scogliera, incontra lui. Un mostro. Un uomo dagli occhi senza vita. Capelli neri, anima nera. Sono rimasta scioccata da quella scena, non sapevo che lo spice sarebbe iniziato immediatamente.

"E cosa vuoi?"

"Le tue labbra intorno al mio cazzo."

Killian Carson, signore e signori, secondo capitolo. Attenzione a tutti i trigger warnings, non tutte le scene hot sono esplicitamente consensuali, questo non è un libro per tutti.

Killian non sente le emozioni come i normali esseri umani, ma riesce a farle sentire a tutti gli altri, di sicuro. È un predatore, brama di vedere l'interno delle persone (non in modo figurato), ha dei demoni dentro sé stesso che vogliono cose che la società non ritiene accettabili. E naturalmente, brucerebbe il mondo per Glyndon King. Ragazzi, questo tipo di ossessione crea dipendenza, nei libri. Adoro leggere di uomini che tecnicamente non sono capaci di amare, ma quando trovano quella giusta, allora farebbero di tutto per lei, omicidio incluso. Solo nei libri, però.

"[…] Ho trascorso tutta la mia vita a reprimere la mia vera natura, ma avrei abbracciato volentieri i miei demoni per te. Mi trasformerei nel diavolo, un mostro e qualunque arma devo essere se ciò significa che posso proteggerti. Non mi mettere mai in discussione, mi senti?"

Il modo in cui Glyn affronta i suoi problemi e le sue insicurezze, il percorso che sceglie per aiutarsi a guarire, e tutto il sostegno fornito da Killian in questo senso, mi ha fatto singhiozzare più di quanto sia disposta ad ammettere. Entrambi i POV dei genitori di Killian, poi, sono stati davvero interessanti da leggere, e molto emozionanti. Questo è stato il mio primo libro di Rina Kent e chiaramente leggerò l'intera serie. Merita la mia completa attenzione.

Oh, ho riso tantissimo durante tutte le interazioni tra Kill e Niko, a volte fino alle lacrime. Ho adorato l'infallibile mira di Killian (Iykyk). Non c'è bisogno di dire che Niko è già il mio preferito tra tutti gli uomini della serie.
