L'accademia militare di Basgiath è la famosissima scuola per diventare cavalieri di draghi più spietata ed elitaria che ci sia. Una volta entrati non si hanno altro che due possibilità: laurearsi o morire.

Violet Sorrengail già si immaginava a passare i prossimi anni circondata dai suoi amati libri e immersa nel silenzio della biblioteca. Nulla di più lontano da ciò che le sta per accadere. Quella generalessa di sua madre le ha ordinato di unirsi alle centinaia di candidati disposti a qualunque sacrificio pur di diventare parte dell'élite di Navarra: i cavalieri di draghi. Ma Violet ha solo vent'anni e un corpo ancora poco allenato alla battaglia: la morte per lei potrebbe arrivare in un lampo. I draghi, infatti, non si legano agli umani «fragili», ma li inceneriscono. E la maggior parte degli studenti non si farebbe scrupoli nell'eliminare Violet pur di migliorare le proprie possibilità di successo. Senza contare che tutti gli altri la farebbero fuori volentieri pur di punire la temibile e potente madre, compreso Xaden Riorson, il cavaliere più forte e spietato del Quadrante. E così Violet ogni sera va a dormire con la sfida di riuscire a vedere l'alba del giorno dopo...

Secondo me non siete pront* a questa avventura… ma proprio per niente.

Ho riso, ho pianto, mi sono emozionata come non facevo da tempo per un libro.

Ti distrugge. Questo. Libro. Ti. Distrugge.

La nostra protagonista è Violet, era già proiettata al suo futuro, cosa avrebbe fatto e dove, ma sua madre a quanto pare non era per niente d’accordo (e menomale).

Non era pronta ad essere un cavaliere, col suo fisico, col suo addestramento inesistente e lei sapeva benissimo che sarebbe potuta morire all’istante, durante gli allenamenti, in battaglia o anche solo per i draghi.

Ebbene si, i draghi. Ve ne faranno sentire e immaginare delle belle.

Volete sapere altro? Ah giusto, la trama è ricca di colpi di scena, la scrittura avvincente e per nulla pesante, l’autrice ha fatto in modo di tenerci incollat* alle pagine dall’inizio alla fine. Ha creato un world building pazzesco. Meraviglioso. Pieno di dettagli.

È un fantasy pieno di azione, non ti annoia, arricchito poi con strategie militari, storie d’amicizia e d’amore, ovviamente.

Non mi stavo mica dimenticando del nostro protagonista maschile. La storia d’amore tra i due può essere definita prevedibile, secondo me a fare la differenza sono le interazioni con i propri draghi.

Lui il classico belloccio misterioso. Il loro rapporto sarà un crescendo di emozioni e maturità. Ma lui è figo raga. Vi basta sapere questo no?

Un fantasy straconsigliato, vi immergerete in un mondo da cui non vorrete uscire, noi ad esempio non ne siamo uscite per niente, stiamo ancora metabolizzando tutto.

In my opinion you are not ready for this adventure... not at all. I laughed, I cried, I got emotional like I haven't done for a book in a long time. It destroys you. This. Book. You. It destroys.

Our protagonist is Violet, she was already projected into her future, what she would do and where, but her mother apparently didn't agree at all (and thank goodness). She wasn't ready to be a knight, with her physique, with her non-existent training and she knew very well that she could die instantly, during training, in battle or even just from the dragons.

Well yes, dragons. They will make you feel and imagine beautiful things.

Do you want to know more? Oh right, the plot is full of twists and turns, the writing is gripping and not at all heavy, the author made sure to keep us glued to the pages from start to finish. It created some crazy world building. Marvelous. Full of details. It's an action-packed fantasy, it won't bore you, enriched with military strategies, stories of friendship and love, obviously.

I wasn't forgetting about our male protagonist. The love story between the two can be defined as predictable, in my opinion it is the interactions with their dragons that make the difference. He's the classic mysterious handsome man. Their relationship will be a crescendo of emotions and maturity. But he's cool guys. Isn't it enough for you to know this?

A highly recommended fantasy, you will immerse yourself in a world that you won't want to leave, for example we haven't left it at all, we are still metabolising everything.
